BSTC Sharks Swim Team

The Broomfield Swim and Tennis Club (BSTC) Sharks are proud to be a part of the Boulder Valley Summer Swim League. Our mission is to give young swimmers aged 5-18 a way to stay fit, have fun, and further develop their skills in the pool and out.  We are committed as a coaching staff to providing a welcoming, positive environment for all participants and guiding each swimmer on the journey to achieving their personal goals. Whether your athlete wants to get more comfortable performing a particular stroke or skill, to improve on some best times, or simply to get outside in the sunshine and make friends, every swimmer will be valued and given the highest quality instruction and feedback.

Please join us for another great season of Sharks Swimming!

If you have any questions, please contact Head Coach Kendall Wingfield at bstc.swimteam@gmail.com.
*Training groups will be determined by a swimmer’s age as of May 15th.
*New swimmers ages 8 and under are more than welcome to join us, but we ask that they attend a brief in-water assessment just prior to the beginning of the season to confirm their comfort and safety in the pool.
*Any year round USA Club swimmers are restricted from participating in a USA sanctioned meet after October 31st of the previous year.

Coach Lauren Bortnowski Director of Swim Programs

Coach Lauren Bortnowski Head Coach/Team DirectorCoach Lauren’s swimming career/adventure began with joining her neighborhood swim team at the age of 10. Though it was mostly just to hang out with friends, she quickly developed a love of the sport that just wouldn’t quit (and still won’t!). She went on to compete as a Texas High School 5A State and Sectional finalist before finishing her career at the University of Denver as sprint freestyle specialist and top three conference finisher. She has enjoyed many years of instructing swimmers of all ages and abilities, most recently fulfilling her passion for coaching as assistant coach for BSTC and age group coach for the Front Range Barracudas. Lauren loves challenging athletes to reach for and exceed their goals and finding ways to keep training fresh and fun. She could not be more excited to be returning this summer as Director of Swim Programs at BSTC!  Lauren can be reached at 832-755-1818 or bstc.swimdirector@gmail.com.

Coach Kendall Wingfield Head Coach

Coach Kendall began her swimming career at the age of 7 for the very team you are now swimming for, the BSTC Sharks! Her time with the Sharks spanned 9 years, after which she decided to join a year round club in Boulder, RACE, where she competed for the duration of her high school career. She swam for Broomfield High School as well, named on both the All-Conference and All-State teams all four years, as well as being part of the medley relay team that won a 4A State Championship and set a 4A State record with an All-American Consideration time. She then swam for Division II Colorado Mesa University where she trained sprint freestyle and breaststroke, and her last season with them they placed their highest at their conference championships, with a second place. Her senior year, Kendall decided to take a step back from training competitively herself, and took her first step into coaching at a High School level. In Grand Junction, Kendall was assistant coach for the Fruita Monument HS girls swim and dive team, and the District 51 boys swim and dive team. Graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science in May, Kendall has since returned to the area, and now coaches for the Broomfield HS Eagles assisting Emily Austin, who coached Kendall during her time on the Sharks and at Broomfield High! This will be Coach Kendall’s fourth summer coaching for the Sharks, and she is very enthusiastic to come full circle with her swim career, and serve as the Head Coach this season! Kendall can be reached at bstc.swimteam@gmail.com.
